Devlog 10: Make it Shine!
Hello Traveller! Welcome back to our devlog.
This week has been all about the polish.

Art
Jens
First and foremost i have searched the web for various sounds like button clicks, Sliding sounds, Footstep sounds and music to fit our game into a nice noisy palace. Now our game will feel much more lively.
Second to that i have also improved the Snow particles in the scene. Now they fall more elegantly and have a bit of noise to them like snow would on a windy day.
I have also added a nice trail following the player when sliding (In the gif its when walking but that will only happen when sliding)

Also not to forget the cute footsteps the penguins now make behind them while walking. Makes them even more realistic and nice.
I also added a particle system that plays when picking up the crown. So you feel extra special when having it on ;)
UI Was also on the todo list and i made some extra buttons for the pause menu.

Agne
For the first polish week i patched up as many holes as i could, starting with the overall look of the scenes which are now almost completed.
Lighting is now almost finalized and i also added some proper meshes for our sad polygonal icebergs.
I also gave a bit more life to our main screen, now the buoys animate together with the lights as if they were floating on the sea.
The changes and fixes i have made are not that major, but they all serve the purpose of improving the game experience as much as possible.
For example now the ice that gets hit and floats under the water is not full of foam, but clearly visible.

The screens at the back of the arena now also display the winning player and color at all time.
Finally, i worked on making some proper tutorial videos. Now it should be a bit clearer how to play our super complicated game! Talk about Street Fighter combos.

For the first polish week, I focused on getting all of the animation tasks sorted so I can focus on the rest during the second week, to keep it short, here're all the animations in one GIF!!

This week lots of bug fixing and polishing. But also simplifying the startup screen.
I worked on getting the controller's working when you disconnected and reconnect them.
Our system was setup for getting all the controllers are launch time so it took some time to get it working.
After lots of bug fixed it worked and you could disconnected press b to remove yourself and press A to add yourself.

A small think I also added was a explosion to the penguin when it gets hit. Later they are going to be bubbles but I ran out of time.

This week I unfortunately don't have many visual features to show for what I've done, as it's all been about changing little things, fixing bugs and implementing all the beautiful works artist have thrown at us ✨
Here are some of the little things I've done:
- implement footstep sounds using ✨unity animation events✨
- implement the sliding RFX
- fix the footsteps RFX
- implement crown RFX on pickup
- update the tutorial screen's video
- fix the walking animation not playing at small joystick values
- fixed game restart breaking everything
Overtime
An overtime small feature was needed to solve one big issue: the game would bug out if no one picked up the crown by the end of the timer.
So what happens now? The timer keeps ticking at 0 seconds until someone picks up the crown.
Pause menu
We have a pause menu now! Yaaay
Anyways, here's a bug I introduced
Multiple round system
Balder
A new simple feature we deemed necessary to make the game better was having multiple rounds. Now the players are compelled to play more!
How does it work? The first player that manages to have the crown by the end of the round three times wins!
Other small thins I did include:
- added ice breaking sounds
- added crown drop sounds
- fixed scaling in menus
- animate the tutorial background
- updated main scene background screens
